We’ve come to the end of 2022, and what a year it’s been. It was a year marked by war, economic toil, and addressing the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Europe was immediately thrust into crisis in February when the Russia-Ukraine War began. Unfortunately, as an Eastern European-based company, many of our colleagues were directly affected by it.
Then, more recently and in the United States especially, many tech companies began restructuring their organizations to deal with the looming economic problems that are forecast. Recent mass layoffs at Twitter, Meta, and others made headlines across the industry.
And, of course, companies have had to deal with the return to work of their employees—do they force them into an office environment, do they offer remote working, or do they sit somewhere in the middle with a hybrid policy? Luckily, as a fully-remote company, we weren’t as affected by the pandemic as many others in the industry.
Despite the challenges, we are excited about what the future holds for us. We’re here to look at the positives so, with that in mind, let’s take a glance at some of the accomplishments our team has made this year.
What did we get up to in 2022?
We released two versions of our flagship log collector, NXLog Enterprise Edition, this year. Version 5.5 added native support for shipping logs to Google Chronicle and Python modules for Windows. Version 5.6 implemented basic authentication in HTTP modules and symmetric encryption, and gained compatibility with Elasticsearch 8. Alongside new features, we improved performance and reliability in many areas, added support for multiple operating systems, and increased the number of integrations with third-party products. We’re also looking forward to releasing NXLog Enterprise Edition 5.7 in the new year. You can find all the features of NXLog Enterprise Edition on our website.
We released NXLog Community Edition 3.0 and then followed it with version 3.1. Check out our feature comparison between NXLog Enterprise Edition and NXLog Community Edition.
Raijin-our modern, schemaless SQL database—has been steadily progressing through milestones. Raijin M9 will be released soon, with version 1.0 on the horizon.
If you’re reading this, and you’ve visited in the past, then you’ve already seen a huge improvement to the blog pages. We’ve refreshed our entire website to a new look and feel; more modern, easier to use, and with a bunch of improvements on the back end. We also added a new Profile section allowing you to view current and historical licenses, and manage team members. And the search functionality on the website has been improved too.
We migrated our documentation site to Antora, providing several useful benefits. Most notably, we now have versioned documentation for each of our products. Any time you read our documentation pages, you’ll always be looking at the correct, up-to-date information for each release. Visual enhancements were made to bring it in line with the new website style and to improve the navigation, making it easier to find the information you need. We also upgraded our website search to use predictive searching.
On top of all this, we’ve had many new amazing colleagues join our roster this year, and we’re planning to add many more in the year ahead.
Looking ahead to 2023
The market for log management solutions has remained strong and continues to grow year-on-year. As the number of cyberattacks increases, and with the cost of data breaches expected to reach $10.5 trillion by 2025, our customers continue to put their trust in our products to help them solve their log collection challenges.
We’ll have a few big product announcements coming in 2023 that we’re excited about, so be sure to check back with us next year. Or, if you haven’t already, you can sign up for our newsletter on the right to get all the details as they’re announced. As always, our team is happy to help get you up and running—contact us today!
Finally, we’d like to wish you and your families a merry and restful holiday season, and a happy new year.
