We are happy to announce the latest release of NXLog Platform, version 1.8. This release is packed with improvements to give you deeper insights into your telemetry pipeline and infrastructure, expand compatibility, and enhance the user experience.

Read on for more details about these updates.
Agent metrics for telemetry pipeline observability
The new Internal Metrics module supports collecting agent metrics, simplifying data flow and agent health monitoring.
By capturing metrics about the collected events per module, route, or globally, you gain real time visibility over the operation of your telemetry pipeline. For example, you can monitor the health of your pipeline, evaluate the efficiency of your filtering rules, or better track how many events are forwarded over each route.
Additionally, you can also monitor the resource usage of agents and take action before bottlenecks start to occur.
Simplified compliance and vulnerability management with Osquery packs
The updated Osquery input module enables faster and consistent operating system instrumentation across your environment by supporting query packs distributed with Osquery.
For example, you can easily use a "compliance" pack to check for changes in locked down operating system features and user settings, or a "vulnerability management" pack to perform general asset management queries that build event logs around package and software install changes.
Furthermore, our Osquery to Prometheus configuration template further simplifies the collection, storage, and monitoring of metrics from your systems.
Log search redefined: complete upgrade for speed and usability
The new log search user experience brings significant improvements in usability and performance:
-
Faster, more responsive interface with lazy loading of log events.
-
Improved usability for displaying and navigating complex log record details.
-
Flexible search builder with support for saving and sharing queries.
-
Timezone selector for viewing datetime fields in your local time.
-
Interactive timeline for visualizing and exploring results over time.

Organize your agents from installation
You can now set multiple Remote Management labels while installing NXLog Agent.
This is especially helpful in large-scale environments with different teams or units in your organization onboarding multiple agents at the same time. By having the teams define specific labels during the deployment of their NXLog Agent instances, your SecOps team can easily filter and configure agents according to the teams they belong to, considerably reducing the operational burden.
Deploy NXLog Platform on your preferred distro
We continue our commitment to running NXLog Platform in any customer environment and improve compatibility with enterprise policies.
You can now deploy and run NXLog Platform on the following additional supported operating systems:
-
Debian 12
-
Oracle Linux 9
-
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15
See the system requirements for the complete list of supported operating systems.
Enhanced security and compliance with SELinux enforcing mode
NXLog Platform 1.8 is fully compatible with SELinux running in enforcing mode on the supported operating systems.
Running SELinux in enforcing mode adds an extra layer of security by strictly controlling access to system resources, limiting the impact of misconfigurations and vulnerabilities. This enhancement allows you to strengthen compliance with your security policies, reduces the risk of breaches, and helps protect business continuity.
If you previously set SELinux to permissive, you can now re-enable enforcing mode after upgrading to NXLog Platform 1.8.
Smarter navigation and more functional sidebar
We redesigned the NXLog Platform sidebar menu to make navigation faster and more intuitive. With a cleaner structure and logically grouped items, it’s easier to find what you need and focus on your tasks without distraction.
The new sidebar also provides helpful context at a glance, including your subscription details, the current NXLog Platform version with quick access to release notes, and notifications when new versions become available.
Simplified Day-2 operations
NXLog Platform 1.8 includes a series of smaller improvements designed to streamline and simplify operational tasks:
-
User management is now simplified, as there are no more separate back office roles, and the Admin role now includes all administrative permissions.
-
The mail server settings now allow specifying an email recipient to simplify testing the mail server configuration.
-
The file name of NXLog Platform backups now includes the version. This makes it instantly clear which NXLog Platform version a backup is for, eliminating guesswork and ensuring you can restore your backups with confidence.
Other NXLog Agent enhancements
Starting with NXLog Agent 6.9:
-
The Amazon S3 input and output modules include support for specifying the object naming scheme, thus simplifying integration with third-party data writers and consumers and preventing write collisions when multiple module instances or agents write to the same bucket.
-
The Microsoft Windows input module includes a new
ResubscribeInterval
directive to support transient services. -
NXLog Agent adds support for Red Hat 8 and 9 (PPC64LE) and Red Hat 10 (x64 and ARM64).
These updates support broader and more streamlined integration with third-party infrastructure, and simplify the deployment and configuration of NXLog Agent for diverse use cases.
